You all know I love music—I love discovering new artists, new music, and attending shows & concerts. Little did I know that Vegas had such a thriving underground music scene until I got an invite to Llamas and Churros from Tita Carra, CEO and resident #bossbabe at 726 Agency. Llamas and Churros, the brainchild of Jelan Kendrick, works to feature underground artists to cultivate the music scene in Vegas. These artists put mainstream signed singers and rappers to shame.
Here’s my new favorite artist: Jae Douglass. His voice is gold!
And this song that I just can’t stop listening to.
I have the most amazing friends. They’re always down to have an adventure and try unique experiences! Hence, our badass girls night filled with axe throwing and German beer was conceived and executed. And let me set one thing straight: this is so much better than your typical drunk escapades in a loud and cramped nightclub. We actually got a workout from axe throwing, worked up an appetite, and had delicious beer and German food at Hofbrauhaus.
The best part: we remembered the whole night.
I was being a bum, laying around my bedroom in various positions while watching my favorite shows for hours, and I haven’t ingested anything but a detox tea I drank earlier that morning. It was about 2 PM already, so I was so starved! This was literally the first time in a couple months that I finally had a day to myself (almost like the calm before the storm that will ensue later this month and into my birth month, June). Why am I always so busy then get so bored on my one day off?!
I never thought so much could happen in the span of two weeks. From losing in love, reconnecting with old friends, to finally pursuing my dreams and getting my career on the road. I finally took a step back and reevaluated what it was I really needed in my life. Gone are the days when I’d follow my wants and do what my heart dictates; I can’t keep living like this. Now, it’s time to think for myself and simply do what is in my best interest.
I’m a lover, a relationship type of person.
However, I’m not in a hurry or rush to create it.
In the meantime, I’ll be over here in my lane focusing on my health,
advancing my career, and the pursuit of happiness.
I want to make sure that when I meet a match
they know I’m working to become the best me.
This mindset has to attract a soul who is also working on them.
This is my lane.
Last month, I had the chance to visit a farmers market & fair at Tivoli Village in Las Vegas with one of my old friends from middle school (yes, middle school! Mandy, we’re getting so old!). We had an incredible day filled with shopping, girl talk, and bottomless mimosas at brunch. Needless to say, we probably took advantage of the bottomless mimosas at Brio a bit too much. And, no, we’re not alcoholics. We just like to enjoy ourselves.
As we walked around the farmers market, we stumbled upon a stall of gorgeous bohemian jewelry and immediately fell in love. The shop’s name is Mai Boho Life, with all the beautiful jewelry designed and handmade by Mai. Needless to say, Mandy and I went nuts on the shop and bought a few pieces. We just fell in love with her silver and moonstone jewelry. Thanks so much, Mai, for telling us all about your jewelry and vision behind your brand. Check out her shop here!
Before I get into more photos, here’s a song I’ve been loving. So glad I discovered Xavier Omar (also known as SPZRKT). His music is so damn good!
It’s been a while… I’m finding my voice again, getting back in that creative flow. Only doing me.
This song is definitely a reflection of my current mood. Purging all negativity from my life and working on myself and my goals. I’m living my life for myself and practicing self-love and positivity.
This is a cover of Sabrina Claudio’s mash-up of Bryson Tiller’s “Don’t” and Mariah Carey “Shake It Off”. If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you know I’m obsessed with her music! More to come in terms of blog content and music.
Friendships are essential to every human, but for a very long time, I was detached and aloof from the people who cared for me the most. These past few months I’ve been so fortunate to reconnect with so many old friends who I lost contact with over the years. I’m so grateful that they even welcomed me back into their lives.
Surrounding myself with incredible people and being there for each other unconditionally—that’s what makes me truly happy with my friends. They’re always there for me, telling me when I’m wrong and putting me back on track. They have no filter with me and we’re always real with each other. I had a conversation tonight with my best friend, Chloe, and it reminded me of how damn lucky I am to have such beautiful and honest people in my life.
I’ve always considered myself lucky, and I also worked hard for a lot of the opportunities I came across in life. But I wouldn’t be who I am today—a stronger, more candid person—without the support of my amazing family and friends. Positive vibes only.
I’ll be honest – this is the first time in the past couple of years that I’ve felt genuinely happy. I’m fully content with where my life is heading, and I wouldn’t change a thing. Always staying busy, reconnecting with friends, working hard, and moving my life forward – these are the things that fuel my drive every day. 2017 has been very good to me so far, and I intend to run with these positive vibes to create something incredible.
Because of all the things I have to accomplish on a typical busy day, I finally decided to take a more minimalist approach to my wardrobe and personal style. The last thing I need is a distraction. I no longer have the time to stand in my walk-in for hours figuring out which outfit would work for a given occasion so I’ve cut out more than half of my wardrobe because it was time for a change.
I was looking at my Instagram feed the other day (only because I was looking for ways to improve my feed, not because I’m a narcissist…), and I realized that I’ve been wearing such different styles lately. So, I decided to dial it down and go back to basics for a day of retail therapy. I needed something simple and comfortable yet chic. I went with this staple look of mine: my favorite MANGO textured tee, my trusty Calvin Klein Jeans (the only brand of jeans that will work with my nonexistent Asian butt), and a pair of neutral stacked heels from ShoeDazzle (only because I’ve broken them down enough to the point where they’re bearable to wear for a few hours).
This playlist is a collection of songs I’ve had on replay for the past few days. Sadly, there’s no particular theme or random musings associated with this week’s mood. I just wanted to share feel-good music. So, just sit back, hit play, and enjoy.
